My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that
education should be learner-centered. I believe that my role as a teacher
is to facilitate or guide students to reach their goals. Hands-on,
minds-on, thought-provoked activities are to be implemented into the classroom.
I believe that students must construct meaning in what they are doing
in order to learn and become life-long learners. The curriculum will be based
around the experiences, interests, and abilities of the students. The
students will be encouraged to work together cooperatively, often through
group discussions and debates. As a foreign-language teacher, I find
it especially important to build students' understanding of other cultures
as well as their own. I believe that my students should be aware of
the inequities in the world in which they live.
